After the 15th International Shiatsu Conference for 2days, at 7:00 p.m. on the 10th, a reception party for the 10 year anniversary of the Canadian College of Shiatsu Therapy and the Canadian Shiatsu Society of B.C. was held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in a grand style.
Many guests attended the party such as senseis participating the conference, members of the Canadian Shiatsu Society of B.C., staff of the Japan Shiatsu Clinic, students of the Canadian College
of Shiatsu Therapy, Consul-General Seiichi Otsuka, and many guests from the Nikkei community who were successful in Vancouver, Canada.
After making remark by Kiyoshi Ikenaga sensei, Chairperson of the 15th International Shiatsu Conference Implementation Committee, guests from overseas for the conference and senseis who provided the workshops were presented a plaque to show appreciation for their contribution, also participants were presented a ‘Certificate of Attendance’.
Hiroshi Ishizuka sensei, the Principal of Japan Shiatsu College, proposed a toast and everyone began socializing.
In a sociable atmosphere, guests were taking about the conference, exchanging information with senseis from overseas who did not often see each other and taking pictures.
In the second part of the conference, ‘Follow the tracks of the Shiatsu college and society for last 10 years’, ‘My dream/Nanaimo’ and ‘Guest message’ were screened followed by complimentary speeches by Andy Tsukumo, general secretary of the Japanese Business Association of Vancouver and Fumihiko Indai sensei, p
rincipal of the Aisen Shiatsu School, who has maintained close relations with Mr. Tsukumo. Indai sensei and Mr. Tsukumo dedicated an organization of an International Shiatsu Conference with Tokujiro Namikoshi sensei since the 1st International Shiatsu Conference. They were reunited for the first time in a couple of decades at this conference. Their speeches brought home to us the history and profundity of Shiatsu field. Subsequently, a report for a popularization and condition of shiatsu in the States was delivered by Akira Imai sensei practicing shiatsu in Oregon, the U.S.A. The report in terms of shiatsu therapy to the Americans made a deep impression on the staff in our clinic who engaged with  shiatsupractors in North America.
Lastly, Seiya Kuwabara, chairperson of the Oufukai, closed the party with a kanto sanbonjime. Praising the success of the conference, the 15th International Shiatsu Conference was concluded although it took longer than the expected 3 hours for the party.
