2nd Day of the 15th International Shiatsu Conference
A free Shiatsu Workshop for the public was held at the University of British Columbia.
At the first part of the Workshop, Junichi Kurosawa sensei and Yasutaka Kaneko sensei instructed ‘Shiatsu for the sitting position’ for about 150 local people. The instruction started after an introduction of Kurosawa sensei, Kaneko sensei and Sandy Woodburn sensei who were interpreters for the conference.
All participants were able to watch Kaneko sensei’s
demonstration on the huge screen at front on the stage, at the same time, they listened to Kurosawa sensei’s verbal instruction. They practiced shiatsu in pairs, played a role of a patient and a practitioner, by watching Kaneko sensei’s demonstration on the screen. About 20 students from the Japan Shiatsu College and the Canadian College of Shiatsu Therapy assisted them individually to explain detail instruction on the screen.
Some participants were nervous in the beginning of the workshop as they have never practiced shiatsu before although they have received shiatsu. As Kurosawa sensei and Kaneko sensei’s instruction was easily understandable and considerate for beginners, the participants relaxed in a few moments and enjoyed the shiatsu experience.
