2nd Day of the 15th International Shiatsu Conference
An Educational Continuous Professional Shiatsu Workshop 2 for qualified professional Shiatsu practitioners by Tetsuo Inaba sensei, former Chairperson of the Japan Shiatsu Association, and Hiroshi Aoki sensei, Chairperson of the Japan Shiatsu Alumni Association was held, following the Educational Continuous Professional Shiatsu Workshop 1 by Indei sensei.
About 50 professional Shiatsu practitioners from all over the world participated in the workshop for "the cervical region". Inaba sensei gave a speech about "Shiatsu as a fundamental medical treatment". All participants once again acknowledged the significance of Shiatsu. After Inaba sensei demonstrated Shiatsu on the cervical region with Aoki sensei who played a role of a patient for the participants, the participants started practicing Shiatsu in pairs.
Inaba sensei himself assisted the participants in proper technique. Everyone was surprised at the size of his hands, especially his thumbs. His thumbs were the size of a big toe, which showed evidence of his long, thorough and warm experience as a Shiatsu practitioner.

Tetsuo Inaba, Shiatsumaster
Born in 1940. After graduating from the Japan Shiatsu College in 1961, he opened the Inaba Shiatsu Chiryo-in Clinic. He taught Shiatsu practice at the College from 1974 to 1979. Since 2001, he has been instructing Shiatsu practice again at the College.
~~ I would like to give a lecture on Thumb-on-thumb Pressure and Two-thumb Pressure to the anterior cervical, lateral cervical, and posterior cervical, because a treatment for the neck is tremendously significant for Shiatsu therapy. Best regards, Tetsuo Inaba ~~

~~ 7 years has passed since the last conference, which was held in Rome in 2007. Now this time, it will be the 15th International Shiatsu Conference in Vancouver. This is going to be a big event. Congratulations to all for the effort to have the conference happen. Let's celebrate it along with the 10th anniversary for Canadian College of Shiatsu Therapy and Canadian Shiatsu Society of B.C.. Best regards, Hiroshi Aoki ~~
