Free Shiatsu Seminar

Attendance at the events is free. However we are charging at CAN$10 reservation fee which will be refunded to you by cheque on the day of the conference. If you do not attend, no refund will be made.
Open to the first 200 applicants. We cannot receive your application on the day of the conference. Applicants must be 15 years or older.

Hiroshi Kanda, Shiatsumaster
After graduating from the Japan Shiatsu College, he enrolled in the Tokyo Therapeutic Institute and graduated from it in March, 2003. Since then, he has been teaching Namikoshi Shiatsu theory, Shiatsu practice and anma massage Shiatsu practice at the Japan Shiatsu College. 
~~ People might think Shiatsu can be learned easily at first, but the longer you practise and experience Shiatsu, the more difficult and interesting you will find it. I would like anyone, including those who have never experienced Shiatsu as well as those who already practise it, to participate in the 15th International Shiatsu Conference and enjoy the workshops and seminars during the 2 days.    Instructor: Dr. Hiroshi Ishizuka, Ph.D., Principal of Japan Shiatsu College (Tokyo)
      Lecture Shiatsu Theory (Interpreter: Sandy Woodburn, English Japanese)

Dr.Hiroshi Ishizuka, Ph.D., born in Tokyo in 1933. After graduating from the Department of Science at the University of Chiba, he worked as an instructor of anatomy at Nippon Dental University. He later became a professor at Toho University School of Medicine and the University of Tokushima School of Dentistry, eventually becoming professor emeritus.
He has been contributing to the popularization of Shiatsu around the world since joining the Japan Shiatsu College, where he became vice-principal in 1999 and principal in 2003.
In addition to his duties at the Japan Shiatsu College, he is a researcher for the Japanese Ministry of the Environment, where he has worked on such notable projects as the Green Census, a national survey on the natural environment and integrated biodiversity. 
He is the author of several books on anatomy and tsubo.

Junichi Kurosawa, Shiatsumaster
He was born in Tokyo in 1968. After graduating from the Japan Shiatsu College, he started instructing at the college. Currently he is the head of the teaching department at the Japan Shiatsu College.
~~ How do you do? I am Junichi Kurosawa of the Japan Shiatsu College. The international Shiatsu Conference is a fun and interesting festival not only for practitioners but also for those who experience Shiatsu for the first time. I am highly honored to participate in the conference in Vancouver. It is a great opportunity for us to demonstrate the excellence of Shiatsu to people from all over the world. I will give a lecture for beginners on Shiatsu for the sitting position with Yasutaka Kaneko sensei.

Yasutaka Kaneko, Shiatsumaster

After graduating from the Japan Shiatsu College in 2001, he enrolled in the teacher training course at the Kuretake Gakuen and graduated in March 2003. Currently, he instructs Shiatsu practice and Clinical Theory for Oriental Medicine at the Japan Shiatsu College.
~~ I believe that Shiatsu is a beneficial therapy that is able to address and treat abnormalities of mind and body as well. I would like to communicate the excellence of Shiatsu, and I hope it will ultimately fulfill the needs of the people in the world. Akitomo Kobayashi, Shiatsumaster
After graduating from the Japan Shiatsu College in March 1975, he became an instructor at the college. He currently teaches Shiatsu practice. His first overseas conference was the 1st Shiatsu Seminar held in Hawaii in July 1975.Since 2005, he has taught Shiatsu seminars in Italy, Switzerland, France and Bulgaria to promote Shiatsu around the world.
~~ I have a vivid recollection of what Tokujiro Namikoshi sensei said in the conference 32 years ago about "The essence of Shiatsu", that is, "Shiatsu is a therapy that can bond people spiritually". The first step to master the true Shiatsu is to master the basic Shiatsu. At the conference, I will teach the basic technique of "prone position" as easy as possible with the demonstration. Yuji Namikoshi, Shiatsumaster

He was born in 1965 as the first son of Kazutami Namikoshi. He is the Chairperson of the Japan Shiatsu College and the grandson of Tokujiro Namikoshi, the founder of Shiatsu. After graduating from high school, he enrolled in the Japan Shiatsu College. Since then, his work has focused on the "Basic Shiatsu" treatment. He is currently the Head of the Namikoshi Shiatsu Treatment Centre.
~~ My first visit to Canada was to attend the 5th International Shiatsu Conference in Vancouver with my grandfather. I recall many precious memories such as the seated Shiatsu demonstration to people from all over the world at the Japan House of the International Transportation Exhibition the night before the conference.
My grandfather in heaven will be pleased that I am again attending the Conference in Vancouver as an instructor. I am happy to assist you in any way to better understand Shiatsu, along with the other instructors. I will see you in Vancouver. Best regards,  Yuji Namikoshi  ~~
