The 9th International Shiatsu Conference was held at the Pan Pacific Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Li Yacai sensei, who studied to become a Shiatsupractor, lead the authority, bringing the Japanese license to Malaysia. He entered the Japan Shiatsu College in Japan as a member of the 29th class. After 2 years of  hard study, he finally graduated, and also, as an outstanding student, he passed the Japanese government examination with flying colors. It was his passionate request to have a holding of this conference in his country, Malaysia.
At 2:00 p.m., Yoshihiro Yamaoka sensei made a declaration of the conference. Right after the declaration was made, Li Yacai sensei did a lecture on, "The situation of Shiatsu in Malaysia" as an opening greeting. Minister of Health and Welfare, Mr. Datuk Li Kim Sai, was specially invited to the conference and gave a welcome message. Then the chairperson, Tokujiro Namikoshi sensei, gave an lecture on, "Shiatsu and World peace", and also he included a famous story of an American actress he treated on, and her name was Marilyn Monroe. His speech has made a profound impression on the audiences. Afterwards, the participants got a fruitful instruction after seeing a film of Shiatsu, and practical instruction of self-Shiatsu, lead by Toru Namikoshi. After the demonstration, Mr. Datuk Li Kim Sai, received Shiatsu directly from Tokujiro Namikoshi sensei, and was very pleased with the treatment. This has lead the general public in Malaysia to know and experience what Shiatsu is all about.
Furthermore, the event hit the airwaves and as well as extensively reported in the newspapers the next morning. At night, the reception party had an international flavor and it was a success. The conference was concluded.
