The 7th International Shiatsu Conference in Germany 1988

The 7th International Shiatsu Conference was held at the Nikko Hotel in Dusseldorf, West Germany.
On June 15th at 10:00 a.m., after the declaration of the opening, Gerhard Birkner, the director of the Shiatsu center in West Germany, gave us a considerate greeting with some Japanese.
In the morning, Douzou Mizuoka sensei spoke on "Shiatsu and automatic nerve imbalance", and Rudy Palombini sensei, the president of the Scuola Italiana Shiatsu in Italy, gave a lecture on "The current situation of Shiatsu in Italy". His report that the University of Roman had launched a study of Shiatsu after talking particular note of its effectiveness captured the attention of the audience. Next, Denis Binks sensei, the president of the Nippon-Netherlands Shiatsu School, performed a Shiatsu demonstration called "Improvement of Shiatsu techniques", which focused on the most visible and representative part of the human body; the face, which shows emotions and abnormalities of inner parts. All delegates reaped a huge benefit from his demonstration. The last passionate lecture of the morning was "Shiatsu and World peace" by the chairperson, Tokujiro Namikoshi sensei, that made a tremendous impression on the audience.
In the afternoon, the conference started by showing films, followed by a practical instruction of "Self Shiatsu" by Toru Namikoshi sensei. After that, in order to demonstrate Shiatsu for general public participants, many white sheets and pillows were prepared on the whole floor. There was no end to the applicants who came to receive Shiatsu. The conference ended with great success.
Denis Binks sensei, the president of the Nippon-Netherlands Shiatsu School, and Rudy Palombini sensei, the president of the Scuola Italiana Shiatsu in Italy, offered their congratulations at the reception party that night.
