The 4th International Shiatsu Conference in Taiwan 1985

The 4th International Shiatsu Conference was held at a top hotel, the Asia Worldplaza Hotel, in Taipei, Taiwan, with 250 people from Taiwan and an additional 50 people from Japan, the U.S., Africa, and Malaysia.
On March 24th at 10:00 a.m., after Toru Namikoshi sensei declared the opening of the conference, all delegates were introduced. To start, Tokujiro Namikoshi sensei gave a lecture on "The essence of Shiatsu". This was followed by We Ziqing sensei's presentation on  "The study for healthy way in 16 meridians Shiatsu" and by Douzou Mizuoka sensei's presentation on "The effectiveness of palm pressure". Russel Akira Ikeda sensei from the U.S., Li Yacai sensei from Malaysia, and Tatsuo Sasaki sensei from Niger also presented their experiences. The first half of the conference left us all with a great impression.
In the afternoon, Toru Namikoshi sensei gave a lecture on "Self Shiatsu", after which Tokujiro Namikoshi sensei and other Japanese instructors enthusiastically gave us some long hoped for practical instruction. Many sheets had been laid on the entire floor. A local TV station filmed the grand Shiatsu demonstration because this was a rare opportunity for them.
At the reception party that night, all delegates celebrated the 80th birthday of the chairperson, Tokujiro Namikoshi sensei, in style with a 3 meter tall cake through the courtesy of the organizers in Taiwan.
