The 9th International Shiatsu Conference was held at the Chamartin Hotel in Madrid, Spain. More than 350 participants from all around the world attended. Beginning with this conference, Shiatsu students are eligible to participate. As such, there were five in attendance from Japan Shiatsu College.
The conference began with a lecture and a practical instruction by the Director, Matsuko Namikoshi sensei. This was followed by lectures and instruction from Fumihiko Indei sensei, Director, Aisen Shiatsu School, Hawaii, USA, Kensen Saito sensei, Chairperson, Shiatsu Academy of Tokyo, Ontario, Canada, Dr. Fulvio Palombini sensei, President, Scuola Italiana Shiatsu, Kiyoshi Ikenaga sensei, Canadian College of Shiatsu Therapy, British Columbia, Canada, Mitsuharu Tsuchiya sensei, Portugal, and Tetsuo Inaba sensei of the Japan Shiatsu Association. Attendees of these outstanding lectures and practical instruction sessions, presented by highly respected, international teachers, were very appreciative. This demonstrates, clearly, that Shiatsu has been widely acknowledged throughout the world.
After the conference was a reception party where everyone enjoyed Spanish wine and entertainment. The conference was a huge success!!
