The 11th International Shiatsu Conference in Australia 1993

The 11th International Shiatsu Conference was held at the Novotel Hotel in Australia, with a total of 200 people, including the graduates from the Japan Shiatsu College, Michiyo and Hiroko Urakawa sensei, and all the members from the Shiatsu Therapy Association of Australia, Japan, Canada and Taiwan.
At noon, the day before the conference, the Chamber of Commerce of Japan in Melbourne, hosted a lecture for the chairperson, Tokujiro Namikoshi sensei, at the Hotel Regency. At 4:00 p.m., in the Hotel Novetel Melbourne in Collins, Toru Namikoshi sensei, gave a lecture about the " Main points of Abdominal Shiatsu", followed by a practical instruction by Kensen Saito sensei, Tashiro sensei and Takuo Ikenaga sensei.
In the morning, the day of conference, Toru Namikoshi sensei, Michiyo and Hiroko Urakawa sensei, Kensen Saito sensei, Tashiro sensei and Takuo Ikenaga sensei, performed a practical instruction for the participants, who were in " the middle of the Shiatsu fad" in Australia. The practical instruction made the audiences deeply impressed about Shiatsu.
Right on schedule, at the conference, the president of the Shiatsu Association in Australia, Peter Gigante sensei, and chairperson, Tokujiro Namikoshi sensei, made a greeting. After the greeting, a Shiatsu movie was screened, followed by a Shiatsu demonstration, which had already become a main feature of the conference. Many futon mats have been laid on the floor for the participants. The chairperson, Tokujiro Namikoshi sensei, was at the center of the hall, while the other instructors from the Japan Shiatsu College, was around him, to help instruct the participants at the conference.
At 8:00 p.m., the second section of the convivial party was held, and Peter Gigante sensei, the president of the Shiatsu Association in Australia and Alan Bernie sensei, vice-president of the Shiatsu Association in Australia, gave a greeting. After greeting, there were lots of entertainments performed at the party. The conference was very meaningful. Because there were so many styles in the middle of a "Shiatsu fad" in Australia, the conference helped standardize Shiatsu.
